GRANDPA

I never met you, but I wish I had.
I never saw you, but I wished at least you would have.
After hearing your anecdotes, your beliefs all about you, I wished I would have met you.
If I could have a lifetime wish and one dream that could come true,
I would plead to God with all my soul just to see and speak to you.
Thousands of word won't bring you back,
I know because I've strived.
And neither a million tears,
I know because I've shrieked.
Mom said to me once if your Grandpa would be here with us,
Our lives would be wonderful.
I wished that too could have happened.
